DofE Expedition school support packages
As a local authority centre, we are proud to work with schools throughout the county and further afield. We have delivered a high-quality and well-regarded service since 2013.
As a DofE expedition Approved Activity Provider (AAP), the Mill Adventure Base works in partnership with educational establishments to deliver expedition packages with our highly qualified and experienced outdoor staff organising and delivering the whole of the expedition section of the DofE Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
Expedition locations can include Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Peak District, Wales, the Lake District and Scotland.
Our bespoke offer includes:
- direct contact with our experienced AAP manager.
- school assembly and parent information evening.
- training in all areas required for the DofE expedition training framework.
- briefing letters for parents and students.
- group equipment such as tents, stoves, stove gas, first aid kit, maps and compasses.
- briefing and deployment of school staff and volunteer helpers.
- all required documentation.
- supervision and organisation of day walks and expeditions by experienced DBS-checked, qualified, and first aid trained staff.
- one DofE supervisor per two teams at Bronze and Silver level, and one supervisor per team at Gold level.
- booking and paying for campsites.
- assessor and assessment of all participants.
- assessor reports inputted onto eDofE.
- emergency point of contact and lead supervision.
- public liability insurance.
Fees: Autumn 2025 to 2026
Bronze
£170 per person. Minimum of 14 participants, based on two full teams of seven.
Two training days and a two-day one-night qualifying expedition (total of four days).
Silver
£310 per person. Minimum of 7 participants, based on a full team of seven.
Two training days, a two-day two-night practice expedition and a three-day two-night qualifying expedition (total of seven days)
Gold (Standard)
£435 per person. Minimum of 7 participants, based on a full team of seven). Two training days, two-day two-night practice expedition and four-day three-night qualifying expedition ( total of eight days)
Gold (Mountain)
£485 per person. Minimum of 7 participants. based on a full team of seven.
Two training days, a two-day, two-night practice expedition and a four-day, three-night qualifying expedition, plus travel day and additional night (total of nine days).

Are you looking for a ready-made option for your students to complete their expedition? At just £160 per person your students can complete the expedition section in a three-day, two-night program at The Mill Adventure Base. All group expedition kit, information, packing list and transport included. Available 13-15 October or 15 -17 October only.

Need help with finding a DofE residential option?
Gold DofE residentials available during February half term, summer holidays and October half term. Activities include rock climbing, mountain biking, caving, canoeing, high and low ropes courses, archery etc. The price includes accommodation in camping pods, all necessary activity equipment and a five day, four night experience with all food included.
